Jeansquest: the sequel

I'm still looking for high waist, wide or straight leg jeans. Here's the latest batch of options. It's funny how different they look in photos than in the mirror -- I still haven't gotten used to my new, curvier bottom half! But that's ok as long as I have cool jeans that fit.

1-2: Uniqlo U wide leg. I love these! I might be able to go down a size, except they're sold out, and there's nothing I hate more than tight jeans on my tummy, so I think it's a winner at this size.

3-4: Gap wide leg "crops" that are almost full length on me! I could let out the hem to make them truly full length, or I could chop them. What do you think?

Do I really need three pairs of wide-leg jeans (these two and the Rag & Bone flares I kept from the last round, a very different silhouette), as someone who still loves skinnies and boyfriend jeans?

5-6: Gap acid wash, button fly jeans. These had such potential but they are not winners. If nothing else, the fly is crooked. Too bad because I want something like this as my "white" jeans option.

And then, the other things.

7-10: I saw an R13 jeans+skirt look that I loved, but of course it's a zillion dollars. Then I saw this skirt at Zara and thought "hmmmm." Here it is over some straight-leg jeans. What do you think? Could this work as one of my weirder wildcards? It's $50, so pricey for a total wildcard, but I sort of like it. Does it fit ok? The sizing was odd.

I wouldn't wear the skirt alone (too short) in most circumstances. But I'm going to a cowboy-themed party tonight where a short skirt would be totally acceptable, so I'm tempted to cut the tags, but I don't know.

The shoes are also from Zara and, while they're comfortable, I think they are going back. They just don't quite feel like me? But it might be good to have nice leather shoes that stay on my feet, for professional situations.

11-12. Omg, I found these Coach haircalf high-shaft boots at Crossroads and they are perfect. I didn't know this was a wardrobe hole until I found them. I'm trying to be better about impulse buys but I couldn't pass this up.

I love 1/2 and 3/4! Great look on you. They seem similar. Does one feel better than the other? 5/6 - love the Denim, but I don't know about the shape. I think the skirt is really cool! The fit looks good to me. The boots are amazing!

I prefer the Uniqlo over the Gap pair and don't think you need both if they aren't what you are going to wear every day. Keep the skirt if you think you would wear it over the jeans. I like the Zara shoes and the boots were a great find.

I like the Uniqlo jeans the best. I agree with the idea of the Gap ones as a stand-in for white, but you may find a pair you like better.

I noticed those R-13 skirted jeans as well (they also come in a darker color). I can't tell if your substitute skirt matches the underlayer jeans in color or not, but like the idea.

And the Coach boots are an excellent find.

I prefer the Uniqlo jeans over the Gap ones.  The R-13 skirted jeans are very cool.  Maybe Zara will come out with something similar.  I like your skirt with or without jeans.
The Coach boots are fantastic.  Great find.

I love your new boots. I like all the jeans, but think the Gap ones need to be shortened as they are not cropped enough. The Zara skirt with jeans is a very good look and fun on its own too. But really, those boots steal the show.

Love that skirt on you!!!! I vote to cut the tags.

Love the boots! The skirt is cute and fun, I say keep. I also like the Zara shoes but not worth keeping if you won't wear them.

another vote for the uniqlo jeans....i'm on the fence re the gap one's...i like the idea of them, but not sure i think the reality of them. ok...looking at them again, they either need to be longer or shorter...not a skirt person, so i'm going to leave that to everyone else

I might have to become your skirt twin. I like the Uniquo.  Good call on the acid wash.

The skirt/jeans combo is really cool! I think the Zara skirt looks like a good copycat and the fit looks good to me.

I agree with the others that the two pairs of wide leg jeans look really similar and that the uniqlo is a bit better, so I'd probably keep that one and return the other. It doesn't sound like an item you need an almost- duplicate of, at least not right now.

I like those Uniqlo U jeans a lot! Keep those. The Zara skirt is really fun, too, another keeper I'd say. I'm surprised how well the denim-over-denim look works. Is it bulky having two flies layered on top of one another?

I can't really tell the difference between 1/2 and 3/4, if it were me I wouldn't get both. I think I may marginally prefer 1/2 if I squint!
And I adore those boots. I like the Zara shoes but they look more my style than what I've seen of yours, which is quite different. Skirt not at all my style and I feel not fair to comment.
BTW I may have missed it but what happened about the job? I'm wondering if it wasn't good news :( ?

    Thanks, all.

#1-2 and #3-4 are actually somewhat different. The first is solid black denim trousers (no front pockets), and they look dressier. The second is faded denim with regular jeans styling. But I agree that I might not need two things with similar silhouettes.

Today I wore my existing solid black flared jeans and remembered that it's hard for me to build outfits around them. Somehow the solid black doesn't go with my usual loose black tees -- too much of a black hole effect for my taste. (This is fine with skinnies because there's less volume, I think.) I either need fitted black tops, or more grey and white. The Gap jeans (#3-4), with faded denim, will be more versatile. But the Uniqlo jeans are just cooler all around. I guess I'll try to make a few more outfits and see. They'd be perfect with a cotton bodysuit.

Also, I really want cropped jeans of some sort and it's been a struggle to find the right ones. So I'm tempted to keep the Gap jeans also, but crop them.

I wore the skirt last night! I was at a party with a cowboy / county fair theme, and the skirt was perfect with a fitted plaid shirt.

I think you should keep the Gap jeans and crop them if they go best with your wardrobe. It sounds like you already have black flared jeans. Love the skirt over jeans look for you and the calf hair boots.

I prefer the black Gap wide leg jeans - the Uniqlo is too big. (Yes, I'm a spanner). The Gaps need a good three to four inch chop. GREAT look on you.

Send the light grey Gaps back.

I absolutely LOVE you in #7. Killer on you. KEEP THE SKIRT AND WEAR IT OVER JEANS. Magical for your style.
