Goldilocks and the two jackets

I've been looking for a bomber jacket that wasn't quite so bomber-y, and I found one at H&M this fall. It's a wool-blend boucle. I like the zipper accents and I like that the cuffs aren't rib knit - for some reason I've always had trouble with the feeling of those on my wrists. Dunno why.

So I bought it. It was oversized so I sized down to a 2. I've worn it a bunch, but then I took some photos and wondered if I bought the wrong size. It sits oddly on my shoulders I guess.

Then a few weeks ago I walked past H&M and saw the same jacket on sale for $25, so I snapped up a larger size (6). I figured it was so cheap that I wouldn't mind donating the first one. But, much like Goldilocks, I can't seem to be pleased. I think it's too big. Maybe I should have found a 4, or maybe it's not to be, or maybe the first one was fine.

First four photos are the size 2. Last four photos are size 6. (I'm not at my most photogenic today.)

Should I return the bigger one?

This is a tough call. The bigger one does create a blockier shape because it is big on you, but perhaps has more presence and lays better? Hope more discerning eyes chime in.

It's possible I could find the size 4 still, though they may have cleared out all their sale things by now. I suppose it's also just not that important -- it was inexpensive and I can already tell the fabric won't wear very well.

    I like the 2.

    I like the 2.

Very hesitant to give my first opinion on here on someone else's clothes! But giving it a go... It seems to fit better in the smaller size, your shoulders look more in proportion to the rest of you? The bigger size looks kind of bulky to me. I guess I joined up so I could join in, but this is quite scary! I know what you mean about the cuffs. I only have one bomber jacket and they feel a bit strange. I'm wearing it even so as a gorgeous floral

They almost look like different jackets ! The 2 is sleek and elegant and the 6 is kind of slouchy cool.
    I like them both.
    Sorry not a help I guess !

They both look good and I do agree with Momo that the different fits do make them look like different jackets. The questions to ask yourself are 1. Which jacket do you feel best in? and 2. Would you wear both?

Given the price of the second jacket, it was worth giving the different silhouette a try.

I think the 2 looks fine on you.  I don't see anything wrong with the shoulder fit.  The 6 looks slouchy and oversized, in a good way.  Which do you prefer?  Is the 2 tight?

I do think you needed the size 4.

Is the 2 uncomfortable, or difficult to layer under? I think it looks better than the 6. FWIW, I find bomber jackets quite difficult -- they overwhelm easily.

I love the way the larger one looks. I agree with Shevia's observation.

I like the larger look but I think the 6 might be too big.
