WIW: dressed up with nowhere to go

I changed into my favorite crossover jeans and a really cool drapey wool wrap top to go to a friend's whiskey tasting party.

I rang the doorbell, rechecked my email, and discovered the party is tomorrow! His first invitation had the wrong date.

Luckily, he just lives across the street from me.

Sorry the contrast makes the details invisible. Posting from my phone so I can't lighten the photo.

A dress rehearsal, then I guess. A very good outfit. You should do it again tomorrow.

I like what I see!  I did this last week.  Was moments from hitting the door to do a pub fun run and double checked.  Sure enough, it was the following Thursday night.  Oops.  At least you only crossed the street lol.

I once showed up to an Easter service two hours early, does that count? (Daylight savings misunderstanding while I was studying in Australia.) Regardless, you look great. I agree with everyone else, go out and show yourself off!

Looks so artsy and drapy! :) Glad that you realized before you showed up!

I love this look on you! I may have to steal it sometime for myself (with added sleeves -- I rarely do bare arms). :-)

Love that look, GS! Drapes and joggers is poetry to me!
Whiskey tasting? Count me in! I am partial to a little scotch, myself (Johnny Walker blue label is my current favourite). How do you feel about peatiness? Do let me know your faves!!!

    Outstanding! Love!

At least you were early, not late. We showed up a full day late for a surprise milestone birthday pool party, with our kids in tow and everything. They offered us leftovers....we ate humble pie ;)

Funny story that my ADD brain can relate to. This is fabulous and well worth repeating for the actual event!

Another whiskey lover here! I love Jack Daniel's the most :) ... Why don't I get invited to whiskey tastings? I should get out more. May be you, me and fuzzy should go out together on a whiskey tasting rampage. Oh we are talking about the outfit, aren't we?

Crossover pants, drapey top, comfy RATE shoes. Yes I love that :). And bummer about the mix up.

Dress rehearsal is just about the best way to describe the situation. I love your style.

Btw, at least you missed it by 1 day and can still catch up. Imagine the opposite. Imagine you missed it all by a day because you mixed the days up.
    Yup, happened to me.
Nope, not tasting but plane. That's life ;-)

Bwahaha, Neel! Such a poop we are on three separate continents!

I decided to wear the same thing tomorrow, so I changed into more mundane clothes. Then I went to my other neighbor's house to assemble electronics for his art project. I'm really enjoying living near so many friends again.

The whiskey tasting is really my neighbor's attempt to use up most of his whiskey before he moves back to New York. My favorites are moderately peaty scotches but my tolerance is so low that an afternoon whiskey party is really just a chance to have a tiny sip of a few things.

I love the way you paired it with an asymmetrical neckline, while the shoes make the outfit feel unfussy.  And of course if you get a bit happy or someone knocks into you at the tasting, nothing will show.

I learned to love whiskey when I lived in Asia.  It is a much-loved drink in Japan.  Single Malts are nice but ultimately the best (I thought) was the Johnny Walker blended Blue Label.   It goes really well with caviar and toast points.
