WIW: basic stripes

This is a pretty standard outfit for me: black skinnies, a top, and my new-to-me jean jacket. The jacket is a men's jacket and intentionally oversized, but I'm not sure it really works. I threw out all the side-angle photos because I looked totally pregnant in it. I should have saved one to post for your opinions. It's almost as if men's clothes aren't cut to accommodate breasts! ;-)

At any rate, it was just $13 so if it's not a winner on me, I'll give it to my boyfriend.

I am wearing the problematic Penpal boots, now with insoles, and they feel fine.

Ooh, I like this a lot! The oversized jacket is good! I have one from my sister I should try styling again.

I don't see the side view?!?

Nice.  I love this combo. It's actually something I like and wear often too: skinnies, stripe tee and scarf. Very flattering and adaptable.

BTW, is your hair cut as a long mohawk? Or just very short on one side, i.e., "now I'm a rebel, (hair flip) now I'm not"?

I think the jean jacket is fine, but it gives you a distinct IT profile. 'Cause you know. Guys. Their idealized guy figure is an IT.

It's just shaved on one side, and it's due to be trimmed again but I'm waiting til after Thanksgiving so it doesn't startle my parents too much. I can flip it over to look "normal" but I don't really like it that way. I did see a woman with almost identical hair shaved on both sides - a very long mohawk like you describe - and it looked great but too bold for me.

Oh, and I didn't save any side shots and only realized too late that is deleted all of them. Oops.

Oh, like Skrillex hair. I have seen many girls on campus with cuts like that. Only a few do both sides and then have the top in a long scalp lock.

Love this formula -and you've nailed it beautifully!

I think the jacket looks great. And I'm glad you found a way to make your boots more comfy!

    Killer

A very simple and compelling look brought 100% to life with your hair and specs. Those are very stylish accessories you bring to each outfit.

Ceit, definitely Skrillex hair! I sort of intentionally waited til after the Skrillex craze had faded a bit so that wasn't the only thing that came to mind, but yeah. And I keep the side long enough that it's still hair-colored instead of skin-colored to tone down the effect. After a lifetime of hippie-granola hair (all one length, usually worn in a braid) I finally got the nerve to do something I'd wanted to do for ages. It's funny that it took me til my mid-thirties to feel comfortable with the idea because now I feel like it might look too young for me soon, but for now I'm very happy.

It's a good look on you! If my hair wasn't so thin and fine, I would do it too.

I can't judge the jacket (picture too dark on my screen) but the first picture is great!
