Done with job interviews!

My interview capsule will head to the dry cleaner as soon as I get home from Boston today! I just finished up my last interview. Thank you all for the wardrobe advice and the encouragement.

I was very happy with my clothes, and much more importantly, all of my interviews went very well. They're exhausting but I held up much better this year than last year. I felt grown-up and together and truly like myself. I got a lot of positive comments on my work and I met a lot of awesome scientists. It'll be weeks or months before I hear anything solid, but I already have a comment from one department chair that I'm probably the top candidate (no guarantee of anything). So we'll see where that goes!

I've been enjoying visiting all these different cities (Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore, New Haven, Boston) and imaging where I'll live next year but it's bittersweet to realize that I might uproot myself from the Bay Area. But I'm really excited about it all. Stay tuned!

Congratulations and good luck. It's such a difficult time to be in science with funding woes, so anyone who is still in the game has my sincere admiration. I hope you get your dream job.

Fantastic news. I'm not very patient myself, but it must be wonderful having such a positive vibe with so many possibilities. Now you can daydream and wait (patiently). :)

That sounds fabulous! So glad the wardrobe helped you to feel your best. I have been thinking a lot about your closet. More on that in the not too distant future.

    Thanks all!

By the way, I am so looking forward to wearing all the shoes in my closet, after wearing my nice interview boots into the ground. They're headed to the cobbler for much needed repairs.

I'm glad the interview capsule worked well for you. It was interesting hearing about it, and learning the different standards for different industries as we all discussed them. But mostly it's good to know the interviews went well!

Baltimore is a complicated city the past few years, and there's so much of it where I don't feel safe at all, but there are so many cool things happening here! My daughters go to a church in the city and there's such a young intelligent vibe. Best of luck to you, and wear your fun shoes now! (Check out Remington and Canton if you find yourself contemplating a move here!)

I'm a fan of Baltimore! But my partner lived there for a few years recently and I'm pretty unlikely to convince him to move back. It was the circumstances more than the city itself (for one thing, long distance relationships are the worst). But I think that means Baltimore is low on my list. I do think it's got a really neat vibe and I was glad he lived right in the city and we could go out and explore when I visited. Even if the boundaries between good and bad areas were often stark and depressing.
